Team Su'a-cide...BYU Rugby!

Jean-Pierre Rives once said "The whole point of Rugby is that it is, first & foremost a state of mind, a spirit." Rugby is a "real" mans sport. Any of you who have watched a game or even caught a glimpse of it will realize instantly that it is not for the faint of heart. In my life I have more or less ALWAYS been a rugby fan...if not of the game then of the players (Rubgy guys are hot). However, for the past 4 years my attention has been focused on a more familiar rugby atmosphere of the Provo persuasion. BYU. My brother Manti started playing for the team in 2005 (if my memory serves me correctly). My brother Mikey joined shortly after returning from his mission in 2007. Since then the Su'a brothers have been a thrill to watch on the field.

Where Manti is lean, & quick it's obvious he's built for speed. All the while Mikey is thick-set, & stalwart, clearly marked for strength...with their forces combined they are nothing less than commanding. One of their games was aired on ESPN-U. *funny tid bit* On Manti's profile (that the announcer was reading from) it stated that "Manti is the brother of Mikey, with a less-combative attitude." I got a kick out of that. Other games are currently airing on KBYU.

This weekend they will be traveling to the Sunshine State (California) to the Stanford campus for their fifth straight appearance in the USA's Rugby Big Four, translation: the BCS Championship of Rugby. BYU's season has been perfect thus far (16-0). It will be a tough competition for them. In situations such as these I believe it is appropriate to "cross our fingers."
This is Manti's last season *tear* however, Mikey will be carrying on the Su'a name within the Colliegate realm of Rugby. "No sked 'em go get 'em!"

Seriously, your brothers are not the little boys that I remember! ;)
All grown up and hitting people like it's nobody's business! How fun to watch them play!

Those are great pictures. I'm a big fan of rugby players myself....although I think it's become considerably less fun to watch when knowing that a hit or tackle may equal another visit to the InstaCare.

Wow! I like the pictures! Your brothers seemed to be good rugby players, I must say.

My cousin and I love watching rugby games. Reading rugby-themed blogs is also our regular activities each week. I usually ogle for the pictures of good looking rugby players. Most of all, we like watching and following women's rugby league games lately.

Thanks for sharing your brother's best pictures while playing rugby! Love it, Jenilyn!
